Meet the Candidates

The next council local body election will be held on Saturday 9 October 2010.

The Kilbirnie – Lyall Bay – Rongotai Resident’s Association invites you to meet the Eastern Ward and Mayoralty Candidates at our public meeting:

When    Saturday, 18 September
between 2.30pm and 5pm

Where:    Kilbirnie Community Centre,   56 Bay Road.

As this election will be conducted by postal vote, this meeting is your chance to let the candidates know your views. They represent you – make them work for you.

The meeting will be divided into two sessions:
- Mayoralty first at 2.30pm followed by
- Eastern Ward at 3.30pm ending maximum 5pm.

Each candidate will have maximum 3 minutes speaking time followed by an open question time from the floor after each segment.

As a resident association we are very interested in your opinions / what you think is good and bad about our area and what we as a association could do to help you.  Please leave a comment  :-)

 

Suburban Bus Fare Increases

The proposed increases to public transport fares were considered by Greater Wellington's Transport and Access Committee at its meeting on Tuesday (June 15). For example, a cash fare between Lyall Bay and Wellington city is set to go from $4 to $4.50. The same fare paid for on a Snapper card goes up from $3.20 to $3.28.

Te Raekaihau Point Update

Te Raekaihau Point Development Update as at 4 July 10The Te Raekaihau Point development is continuing at a steady pace. This is the  plan of the project when finished.

 

Kilbirnie Town Centre Submission Count

There was a excellent turnout for response to the council request for submissions on the Kilbirnie Town Centre development proposals of 132 submissions including 2 petitions.

 

Enforcement of Mobility Parks in Kilbirnie Cres Car Park

Council officers have received a request from the management of the Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre to formalise the mobility parking spaces within the centre car park area. Currently, the mobility parks are unenforceable and prone to abuse by unauthorised vehicles.

 

Cyclotron build update as at 3 May 2010

FYI - I received the following.

Dear All. Another major day today in the construction. You will have seen all the outside walls and roof girders going up over the last couple of months. Including some of the blockwork coming down in that horrendous Fri hurricane that swept through Wellington!
